The CrossFit Thunderhawk Youth (10-13yrs) and CrossFit Kids (6-9yrs) program have all the same benefits as our flagship CrossFit program. They follow and teach the CrossFit ideology – constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity coupled with meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar.
The primary difference is that intensity and movements are scaled to be appropriate for young growing bodies!
Functional Movements
What are functional movements? Well, in plain English, they are the correct movement patterns we adopt to move and live. Things like squatting down, picking something up off the ground, or lifting something up over our head. They sound simple, but sometimes, we forget how to do them properly. We teach these movements, and make ourselves stronger by doing them, with weight lifting, gymnastics movements, and endurance training.
Good Nutrition
A healthy fit body needs to be fueled properly in order to burn fat and support muscle. We recommend meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch, and no sugar as a good solid basis to start with.
Constantly Varied
In order to be physically fit and prepared for the rigors of what life can throw at you, we need to work on a broad range of skills. Using the 10 components of fitness as our guide (strength, flexibility, power, endurance, stamina, coordination, agility, balance, accuracy and speed) we produce workouts of the day (WODs) that will keep you constantly challenged while tracking your fitness progress.
